Gifts for Dog People: Funny Sweatshirts, Hoodies and Tees

Dog people are easy to love and hard to surprise. They already own the leash, the chew toy, and the third bed. What they rarely buy for themselves is something that says out loud what they have been thinking on every cold morning walk. That is where a funny dog sweatshirt comes in.

This guide covers gift ideas for dog people by situation, so you can choose with confidence even if you have never met the dog.

The cold-weather walker

Winter walks are a negotiation. The dog is ready, the human is hesitant, and sometimes the dog changes its mind at the door. The Walk Declined. Too Cold. hoodie is the perfect gift for anyone who has stood in a doorway debating the weather with a four-legged roommate. If your recipient prefers no hood, the sweatshirt version is the same joke with a classic neckline.

The holiday dog parent

From tangled lights to bath time, the holidays are a stage for every dog personality. Look at the Untangling Lights Since November sweatshirt and the Sweater On Sweater Off sweatshirt for owners who have been through the seasonal costume debate. They all live in the Dog People collection, which is the quickest way to browse every dog design in one place.

The couch partner

For the person whose dog is also their favorite roommate, the Blanket Burrito Season sweatshirt is a cozy pick, and the Bath Time Tenor sweatshirt is for those with a dog who has strong opinions about the tub.

A gift that skips the awkward guess

If you are not sure about the recipient's dog breed or color, choose a design that works for every dog. Look for designs written around behavior rather than looks, because those fit a lab, a pug, or a rescue mutt equally well. Pair the sweatshirt with a dog-themed pets collection pick if you want a small second gift.

New dog parents and gotcha days

A new dog parent is usually tired, covered in fur, and thrilled. That makes a soft sweatshirt a kind gift, because it is the one thing they will reach for between walks, vet visits, and midnight yard trips. For a gotcha day or adoption anniversary, pick a design with a light joke over a sentimental one. People who love their dogs already feel the sentiment, and a laugh is a better surprise.

If you are shopping for a group, such as a dog park crew or a family with two dogs, go with one design per person rather than a matching set. It keeps the gift personal, and the group photo looks better with a bit of variety.

Sizing and fabric

Our newest sweatshirts and hoodies are made in unisex sizes S to 3XL, with a roomy fit that is great for layering. If your recipient is between sizes, go one up for a relaxed look. You can also check our size guide before ordering. Tees are lighter and better for warm climates or as an add-on to a larger gift.

The short version

Dog people like gifts that notice them. Pick the design that matches their daily routine, choose a sweatshirt or hoodie in colder months, and add a tee in warm weather. Then enjoy the text you get about how the dog is already trying to sit on the box.
